Rain promises to dance Noh Hong Chul's "low-grade" dance if he wins first place

RainHipSong

Superstar Rain made a declaration addressed towards comedian Noh Hong Chul during his guest appearance on the radio show MBC FM4U Noh Hong Chul’s Close Friends.

On the 13th, this singer stated that, if he were to win first place for his song called Hip Song, he would dance Noh Hong Chul’s comical trademark "inferior quality" dance.

To this, DJ Noh Hong Chul remarked, "I usually watch Rain's performance with interest. When I analyze his dance choreography, I think that he must have remade some of my comic dance moves for his songs."

Like a good sport, Rain played along to the remark by replying, "I did actually have a few of your dance moves in mind while making my choreography."

Meanwhile, Rain previously made an announcement that he would dance while carrying a fish on stage if he won first place for his Love Song. However, after he made the announcement he never won first place so the "fish dance" never occurred.

Rain 'Hip Song' performance concept criticised?

RainHipSong (1)

Singer Rain's followup hit 'Hip Song' stage gathers interests from netizens with many who commented on how similar it is as compared to the late singer Kim SeongJae's 'As I told You' performances.

Rain had performed the song 'Hip Song' as his followup hit on Mnet M!Countdown, KBS Music Bank and MBC Music Core this week. And for his performance on M!Countdown and Music Core, there were many who pointed out the close similiarities of the outfit concepts as compared to Kim SeongJae 'So To Speak' performances.

The hockey costume fashion and the sunglasses, as pointed out by many netizens, is similar to that of the concept of 'As I Told You' by Kim SeongJae in 1995.

Some netizens defended, "It's just fashion, there is bound to be similariries" etc. And the truth is Rain has revealed that Kim SeongJae is his idol, and many have also voiced if this was a remake concept by Rain.

Meanwhile, Kim SeongJae died the next day after his first solo stage with 'As I Told You' in November 1995. And cause of his death has since been an unsolved mystery to fans till this day.

Here's a clip of Kim SeongJae:

Rain performs Love Song on Inkigayo and wins belated Mutizen

Rain - No 1 Last Week @ SBS Inkigayo

Love Song@SBS Inkigayo

Rain skipped past Music Core but he came back around for Inkigayo, most likely because he wanted to accept his Mutizen song for Love Song.

I'm sure most of his fans would want to rip that tiny little vest off of him during the highlight of the performance but sadly, the vest stayed on.

Rain has been taking over the charts lately but Lee Hyori beat him to this week's Mutizen.
Until then, enjoy his performance.

He also picked up a belated Mutizen for the April 18th episode which had been canceled.

Rain shines on music program with "Love Song"

Korean pop sensation Rain's title ballad "Love Song" scored its second win on KBS' televised music program "Music Bank" over the weekend, according to the show's official website on Monday.

Rain beat out "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" by songstress Lee Hyori and "Run Devil Run" by female K-pop group Girls' Generation to take the top honor on the Friday show.

"Music Bank" has now cancelled airing of its show for the fourth week in a row with the state being in a state of grievance after a mysterious explosion caused naval ship Cheonan to sink in late March.

All three major public networks have delayed or cancelled the airing of many of their entertainment programs following the incident.

KBS announced it will resume showing of "Music Bank" this week, however, with the government having announced the country will be in official mourning till April 29.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, made a splash into the music industry in 2002 with his self-titled album. He is considered to be one of the most popular entertainers in the Asian region.

The singer has been promoting his latest special album in Korea titled "BACK TO THE BASIC" featuring his other tracks "Love Song," "Hip Song" and "One."

Rain takes crown from Girls' Generation on "Music Bank"

Asian pop sensation Rain has claimed his first win on KBS' televised music program "Music Bank" with his single “Love Song.”

According to the official website of "Music Bank," Rain, who was to make his stage comeback on the show over the weekend, triumphed over contenders Girls' Generation's "Run Devil Run" and R&B trio Brown Eyed Soul's "I'll Move."

"Music Bank" had originally been set to show last Friday with the lineup including Secret, Kara, After School, U-Kiss and F.Cuz, as well as featuring a comeback performance by Lee Hyori.

The show was not broadcasted in consideration of national interest in salvage operations for the sunken Cheonan patrol ship.

A mysterious explosion had caused the naval ship to sink in late March, where only slightly over half of the ship's crew members were rescued, leaving the country in a state of grievance.

All three major public networks had delayed or cancelled the airing of many of their entertainment programs following the incident, including "Music Bank" which has now called off its show for the third week in a row.

KBS has announced it will return to its regular scheduled programming this week.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, made his debut in 2002 with a self-titled album which gained him the title as one of the most popular entertainers in the local music industry.

His single "Love Song" has conquered numerous on and offline charts since its release in early April.

Rain wins Music Bank K-Chart with Love Song

Music Bank was canceled once again last week, making it three straight weeks that viewers were unable to catch their favourite singers perform on air.

Scores were still tabulated though for their weekly K-Chart and SNSD had carted away the trophies for the past two weeks.

But their run came to an end as the Kpop king, Rain was announced on the 19th to be the winner of the K-Chart for the April 16th episode. His total score of 16,871 pts saw him win convincingly against SNSD (8,995 pts) and Brown Eyed Soul (5,909 pts). 2AM and After School rounded up the top 5.

This was Rain's third win after securing two #1 at M! Countdown.

It has been a bad week for singers to be doing promotions in April and signs are not looking good this week as well, with music shows likely to be canceled once again because of a state funeral service for the sailors who lost their lives.

Nevertheless, we congratulate Rain on his win!

Many thanks to Jane for the tip.

Rain in an interview with KBS2 Entertainment News aired on April 17th, 2010

0:34~0:39

Hi, KBS2 Entertainment News family.

Long time no see.

It's so good to see you, and I've wanted to see you.

0:51~1:06

At the same time, 'Rainism' and 'Love Song' were made by myself.

'Love Song' is a simple and sentimental ballad song mixed with dance.

1:36~1:47

Everyone recommended actress 'Han Ye-Seul' who best fits 'Love Song' music video's heroine.

During the shoot, I was able to go cheerfully about my work because she's really an outgoing and bright actress. She'll be remembered by us all as an individual who always tried to make people happy.

1:48~1:53

It goes without saying that she is so beautiful.

She is an actress and little wonder she is so beautiful.

2:05~2:26

At 16, I made my debut as one of an idol group's members, but our boss fled to somewhere else after causing the company to go bankrupt. After that, I joined JYP's company at 18. Ten years have passed since then.

2:27~2:30

I think 'The Way To Avoid The Sun', the title track of the songs in my 2nd album, played a crucial role in the way forward.

2:42~2:53

When I was active as a singer with 'The Way To Avoid The Sun', regulations for the broadcast were greatly reinforced, nevertheless, I rent my sleeveless shirt, doing my dance performance during live broadcasts.

2:59~3:10

That's why I even made an apology to the board members for what I had done. However, my performance got an explosive response from the audience. After that, the regulations seem to have been relaxed when male stars rend their shirts during their performances.

3:12~3:16.

And, to this very day, I've come to rend my shirt since that time.

3:16~3:48

Dance performance as the soul and the feeling has taken me in comparison with the past.

15 years later, now I seem to get to know the real meaning of dance.

4:13~4:44

At that time, I was down and out after gaining publicity, so I tried to break new ground in the showbiz and to see the world. I wanted this pioneer would really help my juniors out.

4:47~5:24

I think Korea has already had much impact on Asian culture. (Under those circumstances), it is not acceptable for me to give it a lick and a promise although this world-wide economic slump is hurting everyone, and despite adverse circumstances.

So, I invested so much time and money in this album and that's why this album is prodigious in terms of quality.

Although production costs are high, I can make the business pay off by featuring in advertisements. I meant it for a joke.

5:29~5:35

As you might be aware, actually, what attracted the audience to me seemed to be my sense of humor when I debuted.

6:03~6:07

In the video, I look very fat as if I'm free from bread and butter worry.

At that time, I called JYP right after the year-end ceremony.

6:16~6:32

JYP and I share the same interests, so we're so happy each other.

JYP and I even swear at the companies of each of us in the front of each other.

The two of us click really well.

6:36~7:00

There is a rule in the showbiz. If you try not to bankrupt your company when you are your own boss, you should listen to other people's advice.

7:04~7:16

My motto is 'Endless Patience, Endless Effort, and Endless Modesty'.

Q: Why did you decide in that way?

I'm just pretending to care. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

I said it just for fun.

7:23~7:29

After 10 years, I hope I'll never become effeminate and I'll be a good example for my son.

7:30~7:42

I think people should not apply any epithet to a real top star.

One name called Rain is much. So, I'll do my best by that day they would not do so.
