Seoul Goodwill Ambassadors Take Part in Charity Auction

A t-shirt designed by world-star Rain, a teddy bear keychain featuring the singer, Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman's tie and autographed X-Man series DVD, and talk show host Kim Je-dong's treasured baseball uniform with Lee Seung-yup's number are all up for sale at the Seoul goodwill ambassadors' charity auction. The event at http://wow.seoul.go.kr/ ends at midnight on Aug. 2.

Seoul goodwill ambassadors have been giving cherished personal items to the cause. The money raised through such auctions has been donated to Hope Plus and Kkumnarae projects for the low-income groups. In February, four goodwill ambassadors, including Daniel Henney donated to the Seoul Welfare Foundation a total of W846,000 (US$1=W1,244) raised through a charity auction.

Global Goodwill ambassador Rain, Goodwill ambassador Hugh Jackman and other stars donated 16 items to the current online auction. Actor Gong Hyeong-jin donated a hat and a red velvet jacket that he wore to the Cannes Film Festival in 2004. Dance group Jewelry gave accessories, t-shirts, sunglasses, hats and sneakers.

To participate, click on the event banner on the main page. The bidding starts at W10,000. Each item will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the closing time. The successful bidder will be contacted individually and the item will be delivered. Seoulites and foreigners can participate in the auction through websites in English, Chinese and Japanese.
