Chances that Rain may not need to be enlisted in military

There is a recent proposal about waive mandatory military services for "hallyu" (korean wave) stars so they can continue their entertainment activities and do more promotion and contribution to Korea.

The person in charge in Korea tourism organization used Rain as an example when talking about the need of waiving mandatory military services for hallyu stars.

Rain will be 27 years old this year, he must be enlisted in the military within
3 - 4 years. Once he is enlisted in the military he will have no activities for at least 2 years. So even if Rain is enlisted immediately he only can come back on stage in 3 years later. Since Rain starred in Hollywood movies "Speed Racer" and "Ninja Assassin" which promoted Korea internationally, he made a big contribution. Therefore, instead of interrupt his activities to be enlisted in the military, is better to let him continue his entertainment activities and make more contribution to Korea. Other than hallyu stars, traditional dancers are also proposed no need to be enlisted.

The official decision will be announced in the Korea congress meeting.
