Rain to Enlist?

Jung Ji Hoon, otherwise known as World Super Star Rain has an expected enlistment date of September 28, 2010 although he has not yet received the official warrant from the South Korean military’s Office of Manpower Administration. Rain, is however seeking a postponement of his enlistment due to his attending school as a graduate student.

He is currently working towards a Master's Degree at Dankook University in its Performing Arts Department. Other than attending graduate school, Rain was also set to make his comeback to Korean dramas in late September/early October. He was confirmed to star in the Kdrama Runaway under the direction of Chuno PD Kwak Jung Hwan and writer Chun Sung Il.

Several celebrities in the past have asked for postponements of their enlistment due to various reasons including their schedules, but an approval is not automatically given. Recently, actor Lee Jun Ki was in the midst of filming a movie Grand Prix and a drama Faith and requested a postponement of his enlistment. His request was denied, so he had to abandon his projects and enlist. If Rain's postponement is also denied, he will have to report to the military on September 28th.

Rain was born on June 25, 1982, and will be turning 29 (Korean) soon so his time is limited. He did say in a statement that if his postponement is granted, he will still be entering the military within the next year. It is definitely not the best time to have to enlist in the South Korean military because of the escalating tension with the North due to the Cheonnan tragedy controversy. Let us all hope that justice and peace will prevail in Korea.
