S. Korean entertainer Rain honored at Hollywood award

SEOUL, March 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korean pop singer and actor Rain took home three prizes at Hollywood's Green Planet Movie Awards for his starring role in last year's action flick "Ninja Assassin," his agent here said Thursday.

The 27-year-old, one of the country's most well-known celebrities, was awarded the "10 Outstanding Asians in Hollywood" prize, the "Asian Cultural Ambassador of the Year" and "Best International Entertainer (Asia)" award at the film festival held Tuesday in Los Angeles, J. Tune Entertainment said.

The event marked the film festival's second year.

Korean-Canadian actress Sandra Oh, who stars on the hit medical TV series "Gray's Anatomy," also won the "10 Outstanding Asians in Hollywood" award.

Korean thriller "Mother," directed by Bong Joon-ho, won in four different categories -- "Best Foreign Culture Film of the Year," "Best International Film (Asia)," "Best International Drama (Asia)," and "Best International Director (Asia)."

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, who starred in the movie "Blind Side," won the award for best actress, while the title for best actor went to Robert Downey Jr. for his role in "Sherlock Holmes."
