thank you n-n
Headline:
Ninja Assassin or the symphony of the weapon.
Santo Domingo. Martial arts movies are a genre in themselves. Derivatives of gangster movies, follow the same narrative pattern that Bruce Lee put in place in the 70s: a young man must face a powerful rival, but he must defeat all his disciples. In these films the hero's motivation is personal revenge or family. In the past the protagonist was an affront that can only be washed with blood; in this film there are a lot of bloods. Therefore, we can’t expect anything new in a tale of martial fighters, but there are amazing films, as is the case for "Ninja Assassin".
The history.
In a remote region of eastern, Raizo, an orphan young man is trained by a master in fighting with knifes. Swords, spears, knives and other irons made to kill are the tools that Ozunu used to train their pupils in the art of the ninja.
Raizo manage to overcome the harsh and cruel Ozunu test’s, but in the depths of his heart is not an assassin and flees his mentor. A young woman detective investigates the links in the ninja organization with political assassinations around the world. Raizo used the young woman police to reach to Ozunu and avenge the death of his young love.
The story.
The story has characteristics that distinguish it from other films of the same gender. First, the management of temporality is very well realized, they mix intelligently the past and the present of the protagonist. Second, using the nature of the item, the silent assassin who dresses in black; providing a dark aesthetics and at the same time to generate tension in the spectator, almost at the edge of the statement of terror. Finally, and probably his greatest achievement is that it develops a high quality choreographic work with knives.
The use of light and shadow, slow motion and digital effects, the scenes get a symphony of battle with sword and knives.
The direction.
People in the film industry perform a task for long years, hoping that the opportunity will arrive. Is the case with the australian director James McTeigue, who worked as assistant director on many films and that before this he had only directed a film and otherwise very well made: "V for Vandetta" (2005). His extensive experience certainly helped in achieving a remarkable result for a genre film.
The myth and the hero.
The existence of a secret society of ninjas assassins is true but is a very credible argument these days, is curious that the cinema has given much attention to the martial arts, knowledgeable of the preindustrial era, that survives through the mythology that the same Cinema has helped construct around them.
